2 stars I am a great fan of Meshuggah since 1995 I heard the DEI and I knew it is something extremly uniqe. It was filled with 5-6 different theme changes in one song including accustic guitar themes and strong background chores and vocals... I think they've lost something though the past 5 years and I am very dissapointed. The latest album "Catch 33" is more like a big complex dark prog metal noise. It works only with 2-3 guitar themes in the whole 40 minutes. Yes, it is stuffed with accustic guitar notes but it is very boring when only 2 musical notes changes in 5-6 minutes. These noises are more than 12 minutes from this album.... Jens Kidman's vocals are monotonous. Yes, we know his voice is incredible but this samplered screaming through the whole album excluding "Mind's mirrors" and "Shed" is very disturbing. Sorry guys!!!! I hope the return to themselves (None, DEI, Chaosphere)
