3 stars Virgo is a multi national band featuring members or ex members from Angra and Shaaman - the voice Andre Matos, Sascha Paeth on guitar famous around heavy metal listners coming from bands as germans Heaven's Gate or americans Kamelot and they are helped by other three musicians. The only album release by them selftitled in 2001 is a combination of rock with progressive elements added here and there, infact is hard to describe their music, is not straight rock and is not straight progressive, is like Queen for the bombastic parts and choruses combined with progressive elements. The album overall is not spectacular or inventive, but has some good moments, specially the voice of Matos with that clear specific tone is perfect here, both in low and high register is perfect. The guitar parts are ok, but far from being excellent. The albums has aswell some pop/rock arrangements that are more then ok. No forthe tracks here, all are at same level. All in all quite forgetable album, but not bad. 3 stars
