3 stars Don't let this be what you judge The Mars Volta by. Fans of TMV's material will be able to appreciate this EP, though I doubt they will come to love it. Fans of At The Drive-In will probably be more pleased with this than us proggers. That's not to see that it doesn't have its moments though.

"Concertina" has become a live staple for the band and would fit very well on De-loused, but the openner "Cut That City" is too noisy and wandering to really be of an enjoyment. "Eunuch Provocateur" could have been cut a little shorter but is a nice track alerting you that being bi-lingual won't be enough to understand TMV's lyrics.

Tremulant has solid material but nothing all too great. It retains much of the punk energy and sound that they had with At The Drive-In but remains adventerous enough to check out. If you don't like this release, there's still a good chance you'll enjoy TMV.
