THE ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK

The single I'm Not In Love was often heard on the Dutch radio after this album was released. I have always loved the romantic, very unique atmosphere (electric piano and slighty distorted choir vocals) of that song that became a huge worldwide hit, yet again success for Graham Gouldman who already wrote in the Late Sixties at a very young age classic singles like Busstop by The Hollies and For Your Love by The Yardbirds, what an incredible tunesmith! Another fine song on this album is the ironical sounding Life Is A Minestrone (served up with a parmesan cheese). But my favorite is the 3 part Une Nuit A Paris ("One night n Paris is like a year in any other place") featuring wonderful vocal parts, inspired piano work and exciting shifting moods, from mellow to bombastic, it sounds a bit similar to Seventies Queen but without rockguitar play. For me The Original Soundtrack is a perfect example of the category Art-Rock and perhaps their best effort.
