4 stars Some people will argue that this album has a few good songs, and the rest are letdowns.

I don't understand those people.

This album is fantastic from 0:00 to 45:04. In fact, it's over too quickly. The tracks in Karn Evil 9 meld into each other, so you're left with the "Oh! It's over already?" feeling. This was my first ELP album, and I admit it took me a little while to get into it. But once I did, I was hooked. From the redone hymns to the classical covers, every moment oozes with ELP in their prime. Emerson's keyboards can make a keyboard hater buy a Hammond impulsively. The man is amazing. And I for one actually love Benny the Bouncer! Lake's voice is hilarious, and Keith's piano solo is one of my favorites. So, onto the ratings.

Jerusalem - 4/5

Toccata - 5/5

Still...You Turn Me On - 3/5

Benny The Bouncer 5/5

Karn Evil 9: 1st Impression - Part 1 - 5/5

Karn Evil 9: 1st Impression - Part 2 - 5/5

Karn Evil 9: 2nd Impression - 5/5

Karn Evil 9: 3rd Impression - 4/5

All in all, you should get this whether you're an ELP fan or not, boy or girl, young or-... Wait, I guess the boy/girl one covers everything. Anyhow, buy this. It's a solid 4.5 stars. You won't be dissapointed.

(And if you are, I'll send you a package of disgruntled shrews to eat your face. Yes, you can buy those now.)

Leningrad | 4/5 |
