2 stars Not really a prog album unless you consider looking backward whilst falling forward progress. Way to much dope was consumed and no doubt far to much acid by this proto- gong line up, What a re we left with firstly this LP sounds as though it was recoded in a bathroom not a studio, it is a horrible production. The first run of these records were hand pressed which resulted in many being off centre and I have even heard of the odd hole being found in some very unfortunate copies. Anyway you will not be getting one of the first batch unless you happen upon a dead hippies collection in a charity shop or some other unlikely chain of events brings you into contact with the holy grail of gong collecting an original french hand pressed disaster. Just as well says I because frankly this record needs all the help it can get. That is not to say there is nothing good on here but truth is there is nothing that is great. Pretty miss titty is a typical anti establishment rant about a prostitute and the big fat business men who enjoy her charms. The fable of a fred fish is utterly silly but you will grow tired of the joke quickly. "he was shot through his head so he fell down dead , and the boson said whats=sha doing mate, but it really didn't matter because they could both hear the clatter of tiny feet ya no" or some very similar nonsense. Anarchists may well enjoy this album and as a document of 1968 around the Paris riots period this is indeed telling stuff. Rational Anthem states we have already won, sadly what was being fought for is not clear...still the tears streamed down my face when I saw david play this live a decade or so back. Mystic Sister / Magick Brother itself is a pretty ordinary track almost a pop song. Cos You Got Green hair , is very reminiscent of LSD and that may well be the reason for the green hair rather than anything as simple as food dye. Not as good as Zappa freak out or Absolutely free but along the same lines except far more stoned. This is not a great album butta its wortha play or two on any old Cd player you care to mention. ITS THE BLOODY POCKETS MATE.
