5 stars Truly a masterpiece and the most progressive LP of the 1st Dickinson-era. After a short quiet intro, Moonchild constitutes a powerful opener. Infinite Dreams has a strong evolutive structure, reaching its climax when the tempo accelerates ( impressive "vengeful" guitar riff). The 3 singles are among Maiden's best ones, especially "the Clairvoyant" and his spelling atmosphere, and we can underline the hit-single aspects and the efficiency of the melodic lines of "Can I play with Madness" and "the Evil that men do" ( this remark can also apply to "Only the Good die young"). The eponymous track is, for its part, one of Maiden's best epics, baroque, heavy, intricate and brooding, paving the way for their musical evolution in the 90's. We can notice an unusual but clever use of keyboards in this LP. To conclude, inspired melodies + dynamic and evolutive structures + powerful and epic songs + musical virtuosity + Bruce Dickinson at its top = 5 stars.
