3 stars Each new Cephalic Carnage album, the band innovates themselves. With Xenosapien, Cephalic Carnage works directly into Technical Death Metal. As you can see, the lenght of the songs are longer than previous Cephalic Carnage. Sometimes the time and tempo changes are suddenly enough, from technical shred riffage and ultra blast beats to sludge/doom metal. The higher point on Xenosapien is some memorable weird riffs and passages. Most of the technical death metal bands are pretty much sounding like the same and are just forgettable. Oh, there are some unexpected clean vocals at this album. The first two tracks are my favorites here. But there are some annoying songs, like "Molting". Xenosapien is OK, but not the kind of album that I would buy for more than 4$
