3 stars A very special venue for a very special performance. A true exposure of showing-off and musicianship! Two geniuses together since late 80's (VAI himself and SHEEHAN), sharing exceses and joy. The band is one of the most solid line-ups form the history of VAI, perhaps a little to "good" having TONY McALPINE and VIRGIL DONATI in the same stage, but that is part of the show. This CD is not the entire concert (the complete gig is documented in the DVD) however catches some of the greatest moment of the night, such cult cuts like EROTIC NIGHTMARES and BLUE POWDER from PASSION & WARFARE or crazy driven pieces like BAD HORSIE and JIBOOM, make you stand for more. A solid and short record that serves what it is: a sampler of the DVD and the hook for what is next. A perfect start for those new or curious about what STEVE VAI is all about, a hint for the regular guitar player: is NOT just about guitars at all, is about interaction and foreplay with the band. peace
