3 stars Their first couple, nice!

Ozric Tentacles was one of the first bands that i knew, besides the classic ones like Yes, KC or PF, actually i think this is one of the few bands that i knew before discovering this site, and the best is that i liked them since the first listen, i had seen some comments in a mexican prog site so i got immediately interested in Ozricīs music, the fact of being a space band made me want them.

But the first albums that i listened of them were Erpland and Hidden Step, which i like a lot, being albums from a different decade, 1990 and 2000, so in my will to know them better since itīs roots, i managed to get their first album called "Tantric Obstacles" which has my first OTīs song ever heard , Shards of Ice, i remember that only that song made me a big smile in my face, and the album sounded pretty good to me, it was only the whim of knowing how do their 80īs albums sound like, so...

Probably 3 or 4 months ago i found this two-album compillation in a shop near my work, and i didnīt hesitate and bought it.

This pair, are their first 2 releases, from 1985 "Tantric Obstacles" and "Erpsongs", so if you like the Ozrics you should enjoy this albums, though they are not their best, but are a good trip to their roots and early tunes.

"Tantric Obstacles" contains 15 songs, as you can imagine them all are instrumental and with the pure spacey sound characteristic of the band, some of the songs are with a pretty simple sound, so alike one to other, but some songs are great with a diverse texture and arrangements. My favorite moments are "Shards of Ice", Ullular gate" and "Trees of Eternity" which is probably the best song of the song.

"Erpsongs" happen to follow the same line and style, actuaylly i think there are not a markable difference between them, the music is full of synths , great guitars making excellent space music, the best moments here are "Spiral Mind", "Descencion" and "Five jam"

Well, i know my review is not as deeper as others, but this is becauase im reviewing a "boxset/compillation" so i want only to give you a short advice, this pair is good, if you like this kind of music, it could be good for you, definitely these are NOT their best albums, but anyway i suggest them to everybody, this compillation is good, but non- essential, 3 stars!
