3 stars Easy listening Math rock at it's most relaxing. The genre of Math rock is known for it's incredible technicality, polyrhythmic drums, and tapping guitars and bass', and the funny thing is is that this band is no exception to that, but this is Math rock that's easier to sleep than most post rock...

The album is calm at best, the guitar tone never changes, it's always very crisp and clean, no distortion, no chords, always playing beautiful arpeggio's, and at the height of some of the songs gets extremely technical, with super fast finger arpeggio's, or tapping. The drums, also very chill, but at the same time, complex, always doing a fill, hitting a symbol, or messing with the rhythm, and yet always stays very tasteful, and not pompous. The bass, is probably what keeps the music as chill as it does, in fact it's a double bass, not once in the album is an electric bass played, this makes the music very rich and down to earth. No other instruments are in the album, just this little trio, that makes some extremely relaxing music.

There is a downside to this formula though. While the album never really feels monotonous, or pretentious, the magical, and earthy effects where out after repeated listens, and while still beautiful, with short time lengths, and even shorter climaxes, you get a sense of rushed songs, and an even more rushed album. While the music is amazing, you are left feeling that you could have gotten more, and felt that you even deserved more. So the album gets a hesitant three stars from me, and very close to four. So please don't shy away from this music just by my ratings, I encourage anyone not afraid of chill music to try this one out.
