4 stars Düde Dürst is the drummer of the psych-kraut jazzy collective Krokodil. This solo album is in the kosmische-trancey krautrock vein with long instrumental parts, various moods and colours. This is authenticaly progressive with many arrengements and fabulous percussive drum sets. The two epic compositions are divided into several themes. The magnificant improvisation called Chemical Harvest first starts with soulful-acid jazzy notes before to go into mystical-darkness, including exotic instrumentation, mantra-like atmospheres. The song is mainly built around a vast collection of drums. The ambiences are quiet ritual, cinematic and haunted. The piece ends with a light-sunny jazz rockin' instrumental, including dancing flutes, grand piano melodies...The Sound of Sunshine is a more spacious and druggy stuff with propulsive-dynamic drum improvs, tripped out fuzzy bass lines. The soundscape is absolutely gorgeous and hallucinatory epic. The last minutes of the instrumental features luminous entrance kraut-folkish grooves (reminiscence of Rufus Zuphall). Almost a classic and an obvious recommendation for fans of unconventional-freely improvised music.
