INNER TRANSLUCENCE

Here we have a New York based band which offer a conceived ratio of experimental attitude and accessible moments. This album is brimfull of fine tunes providing space prog with a considerable krautrock and avant touch. Main producer is drummer Hadley Kahn .... and yes, you can hear it concerning the mix - the drums are very present .. but this never is a problem though, hence a proper drive is guaranteed which is responsible for the album's success among other things. ESCAPADE's approach is improvisation, but it often sounds well arranged surprisingly. Probably the reason is the special interaction based on a longtime collaboration featuring Paul Casanova (guitar), John Ortega (bass, keyboards), Paul Hilzinger (synths, keyboards) and Joey Murphy (guitar, bass).

They know how to build up tension - Prologue and the hypnotic Moving in Limbo are sounding like a warm-up in some way, in order to open the door for the core tracks. Those songs crossing the ten minute mark are the most exciting - to name Destination Somewhere first. I would crown it the album's masterpiece. They provide such an impressing atmosphere here. One of the finest space rock tracks ever, comprising genre typical characteristics as well as surprising elements. For example Robb Ross plays an intriguing exotic flute here - an excellent hallucinatory flow is to state coupled with accentuated synths, tricky percussion, Hadley Kahn's jazzy coloured drum playing, mysterious effects and melancholic guitars - a wonderful inspired jam!

The following Another Mirage meanders like they were exploring the depths of the sea on a rather creepy trip. And the final Colorfields is the longest as well,.a live recording of twenty minutes in total,.manifesting their complete competence in one go. Starting relaxed this is swelling by and by reaching for sharp and sawing guitars until the downfall appears with a gliding spacey flow as a consequence ... stay tuned ... this is not the end! Respect! Some praise is well deserved for this experimental and avantgarde appeal presented with much feeling. Chances are rare - but I really would love to see them on a stage anytime soon (hope is the last thing to die!) - 4.5 stars (for the moment).
