1 stars I saw this album in the record shops in my city for a long time in the seventies-eighties, but I never bought it. I finally listened to it tonight thanks to someone who made it available for listening on youtube.Particularly, in 1981, after John Lennon died, all the albums released by The Beatles as a band and as soloists became available again (even some of them which were out of print then, but suddenly they were re-issued) in record shops in my city, even being available in great quantities, in Mexican and Imported LPs from the U.S. and the U.K. This album was one of them. This album belongs to their U.S. discography released there in the sixties, and I don`t have that U.S. discography in high regard, because for me it was only a "release and sell anything you can to the American fans", with most albums prior to 1967 being released there with only 12 songs or less, releasing a lot of albums there while in the U.K. there were their official albums with 14 songs and they also released singles with songs which didn`t appear in their official U.K. albums. But Capitol Records until 1967 did that marketing trick: to make more albums from all the material available so they could sell them, a thing that even the band openly disliked.

This album really could have been released as a one LP album instead of being released as a 2 LP set in my opinion. But knowing about "record label`s greed"...Well. Let`s leave it at that. This album is an audio documentary with some interesting things which mainly are the segments of interviews done with the members of the band, some of them being funny, showing The Beatles` famous wit. The album also has some fragments of some songs played by the band, plus some fragments from instrumental orchestral arrangements done to their music (I don`t know who did those arrangements, but they sound very out of date and very "conservative" to my ears). The narration of the story is well done, but it sounds more like a very "conservative" reporter doing his job in a very typical "conservative" way, talking about the Beatles` very famous haircut in a very "conservative" way, for example. So, this is the way this audio documentary sounds to me now. Very out of date and sometimes boring. But maybe this album could be very interesting in an historical way maybe for the collectors or the very dedicated fans from the band, maybe mainly from the U.S., to bring them memories about how it was for them to know the band in 1964. Only for completionists.
