2 stars Only for Raul Seixas fans (a very famous brazillian singer). Not for progressive rock fans. It's not a prog-album. I think it was a bad time to Terço. They are one of best brazillian bands. By the way, they are playing again with Flávio Venturini. I think this project was an old Hinds desire: recording cover from Raul Seixas. The line up is weak too, except for Sérgio Hinds. If you want to know "O Terço", buy Live At Palace, Criaturas da Noite & Casa Encantada, not this album.

2 stars Raul Seixas (1945-1989) was one of the most important rock icons in Brazil. His intelligent, critical lyrics (often written together with the now internationally famous writer Paulo Coelho) and the mix of 50´s rock with brazilian rhythms were a milestone in the brazilian scene of the early 70´s. Unfortunately he was persecuted by the military censorship of the period to the point of having to leave the country or face imprisonment in the mid 70´s. He eventually succumbed to drugs and alcohol addiction that would cut short his life. Still his work was so enduring, successful and popular he was never forgotten to this very day in his country. He got several tributes after his death and O Terço was among those who decided to record a ´tribute´ album.

The relevance of this CD depends on the listener point of view. Seixas greater asset was always his satirical take on several issues of the day (religion, sex, human relationships, philosophy, etc), so you´ll have to understand quite well the Portuguese language to fully appreciate (and even understand, since much of it is almost impossible to translate without much loss) his work. O Terço plays a surprisingly straight rock approach here: quite good and heartfelt, but without Seixas often unorthodox arrangements (he used to be a record producer) that made them so fancy. You´ll find very little prog here, if any.

In all it´s a good rock album: well performed, well produced and with a fine selection of songs. But for hardcore fans only. And don´t expect anything even close to their 70´s prog work.
