3 stars Well, if this compilation represents the better bits that this band produced beforehand, then I've heard enough of their music. How this work is (currently) rated 4.38 without a single review , eclipsing Prog masterpieces is just beyond belief.

There is nothing wrong with the music - only precious little is right. Lacking body, lacking drive, not only bordering on boring, but it is outright boring. At times the crew appear to wake up - if only briefly - but it's not enough to raise much interest, too little, too late.

A slight (early) Pink Floyd influence can be detected in parts, something that may have represented some interest around 1970, but by today's standards is seen as rather lame.

As indicated before, I don't see this work as bad, only far too laid back and uneventful. In a word, indulgent. It is of a bit of a miracle that it doesn't come across as melancholic, probably due to failing to raise emotions - either way. A great admirer of British Prog-Rock of previous decades, I find it disturbing to observe that the new generation appear to take their heritage for granted, making little effort to live up to standards of distinction.

I struggle with rating it as a 3 at the most, but in all sincerity, I've heard lot worse rated higher by some. This piece is likely to gather dust at my place - till Spring clean up time.
