4 stars This is the very first of many cdrs that are available from the band. They've done this to avoid any restrictions that the record label might employ. So we get this experimental, spacey music much in the TANGERINE DREAM style done the way they want to do it. The first time I heard about this band was actually through the Laser's Edge web site. Ken Golden was describing his experience of seeing this British band in concert, and his enthusiasm made me want to hear them very badly. I picked up one of their albums back then and have since collected quite a few of their records. I love the fact that they use an M400 mellotron liberally on their recordings.

"Armistice" opens with spacey sounds that build. Voices before 1 1/2 minutes then the sound gets louder. Guitar after 2 1/2 minutes. It settles 4 minutes in as piano arrives. It then picks back up before 6 minutes with an electronic beat. Haunting sounds are in the background. I like the guitar after 11 1/2 minutes. Great sound 15 1/2 minutes in with mellotron.

"Burned & Frozen" is the over 52 minute closer. Beautiful spacey sounds slowly drift through the soundscape. Lightly at first then they get a little stronger with mellotron. Percussion sounds 8 1/2 minutes in. Electronics 10 minutes in.This is haunting yet gorgeous. An electronic beat 12 minutes in continues until after 26 1/2 minutes but not for long as it returns briefly. It's so spacey 29 minutes in almost right to the end as it changes and evolves. Haunting again after 43 minutes.

Just a fantstic album that Electronic fans should enjoy either burned or frozen, it's all a state of mind.
