2 stars Atmospheric Death Metal is what this Mexican record label try to tell us Garden Of Shadows do. Well, Doom Metal is a more fitting label on Garden Of Shadows music. And they do damn good Doom Metal too. The vocals & guitars are brutal and the music is epic & melodic. The overall quality on the material on their album is very good. This is a CD well worth checking out if you are into brutal & epic Doom Metal. On reflection; maybe this album is an Atmospheric Death Metal album after all ? Sorry, guys? 3/6

So far my review from 1998. Thirteen years later, and after given this album (promo copy from their record label) some more spins, I was pretty much spot on. In 2011, I would add that this album sounds like Swallow The Sun's two first albums. That means doom metal with death/ black metal growls and not much progressive music at all. None, to be honest. Even the synths here sounds a bit forlorn. The music is decent, but nothing more. But it has some good melody lines here and there. This album most of all sounds dated and from another decade. Two decades to be more precise. Sorry.

2 stars
