4 stars Sehnsucht's improvisational album "Wachstum" focuses to quite minimal and dark dronings, fitting easily to the general characteristics of psychedelic impressionistic bands, which search innovation from the mysteries of 1960's and 1970's classic hallucinogenic hippie recordings. The efforts have been directed to creation of hypnotic atmospheres without much musical elements or dramatic changes in the sonic flow. Spacey sounds illuminate the trippy voyages in sonar caverns, and the main drive is being borne from the rhythm section and distorted guitar presence. The group's improvised spontaneous approach to album creation is really interesting, and a factor which I certainly appreciate. Band however sticks to quite safe territories in their modal jam blastouts, which certainly prove good band chemistry and good taste in mutual interactive playing. The tracks do not differentiate from each other very much; "Cosmic Testpilots" is maybe more uplifting and groovy than the other songs, and the last "Meat of The White Cosmic Geishas" most heaviest. Thus it is very difficult to name any favorite track, but instead I think the record offers visibility to the band's sound presence in its pure abstract form. I believe this group would be very interesting to witness on live stage with organic visuals, but this record is also fine itself, and warmly recommended to all space heads appreciating trance-oriented psychedelic stoner music.
