4 stars This album was like a yo-yo for me. First I loved it, then I hated it, now I like it. What first attracted me was the bizarre Avant-Garde nature of many of the songs, as well as the almost Zappa-esque sense of humor. But after repeated listens (especially back to back), it can seem kinda cold and too hyper-technical, based on showiness rather than substance. So, yes, to my chagrin I must admit sometimes originality, itself, is not enough to make a masterpiece. If I'd reviewed this the week I got it I would have given it 5 stars. If I'd reviewed it a month after that, I would have given it 2.5. I'm thinking today, it's 3.5 rounded to 4.

Standout tracks: Doooosh Changing Lanes Nautilus Emo Village Pillage

Stinkers: DucksInAPond Alien
