3 stars EIDETIC SEEING are a new space rock trio from New York. This is their first attempt, an introduction of four songs, basically instrumental, but here and there also decorated with some rather weird vocal contributions. Hebrew Scrabble/Hush opens with a wonderful warm-up, this is especially dedicated to Sean Forlenza's soaring and echoing space guitar. The extended track seems completely improvised, they constantly alternate between groovy rocking parts in the vein of Earthless or Hawkwind and cosmic excursions.

This is not reworked, recorded in one take in the studio, prompted by various live shows though, where they managed to refine their interplay. The other three songs also variate in pace and mood, between heavy psych and space rock headed by a wah-wah and reverb-drenched guitar. As for the result this is not plain jamming material but rather entertaining stuff overall. I'm sure this EP will not stay as an one-shot happenstance - 3.5 stars.
