WHAT A TIME TO MAKE A FOOL OF YOU

This compilation is actually just Na Lepem Prijazni's self titled debut album, with the tracks in a different order, with the two additional tracks, Faeton and Crna Ovca, which were originally released as the two sides of a separate single, added on.

The band reminds me a bit of 10CC, using established pop styles as a basis for their songs, then adding unusual accoutrements to spice them up. There is also a trace of an Oingo Boingo-like energy as well.

Only Suckidandsee is sung in English. I wish I understood their native language, as I presume that they are having as much fun with the lyrics as they are with the music.

This collection seems to place the more progressive tracks toward the end of the album, and Daljevidi, ninth in the order is the most traditionally progressive song here.

The more I listen to this album, the more I enjoy their obvious delight with the material.

I already reviewed the original debut LP of NA LEPEM PRIJAZNI so I won't comment much about the music here on this compilation (it's pop, funk, jazz, art rock, it's fun and it doesn't take itself too seriously, out of the bigger names maybe some BULDOZER (and by proxy ZAPPA) and just a hint of GENTLE GIANT feel on eclectic parts). I will say that I don't really recommend anyone looking out for the original vinyl since this compilation has the whole album on CD with two songs on the single they released "Faeton" and "Crna Ovca", so just going by sound quality I find this one better. Some songs have this short (around 10 seconds at most) intro or outro which I thought were a bit of random noise connection between songs on vinyl but they're not lost here, so that's ok too (not that the album was originally interconnected or anything). Basically, this is the best starting point if you're interested in checking out this band.
