STEAMPUNK theme? Post-Death Metal? I found Rainroom years ago when I was looking for steampunk stuff. They are very, very underground. "A death metal band talking about steampunk sci-fi should be great" I thought. I was right. Yeah, this album brings the same Rainroom as before, but now, within a label, these guys showed their potential, the riffs are really creative! Maybe I'm wrong, but the harsh vocals are more groovy than before. The guitar work is probably the highlight. The chaotic and dissonant, but still melodic chords, are impressive. all the 5 songs of the album are lenghty tracks, about 10 minutes each one. The band fixed a good bridge between the steampunk theme and their music. While Voivod makes a weird technical thrash metal to gave life to their cyberpunk tales, I think the melodic dissonant metal from Rainroom applies well to steampunk. The structure of the songs are complex and interesting. A great album to date with you are looking for some metal. Reccomended to steampunk fans.
