4 stars This is a kick-ass live set that really benefits from the energy of performing before a live audience. It strikes me as having much more punch and drive than the Trey Gunn studio recordings -- an energy more on the level of some of the live King Crimson with Gunn and Tony Levin onstage together -- the musical kinship being obvious. Gunn's group is a compact string orchestra -- 6 strings and up -- backed by solid and varied percussion work. For my taste, this is the best of the Trey Gunn projects.
