4 stars This album is so different. I mean, these guys have their own sound, I cannot compare this with anything else. They got a lot of influences like Marillion, Dream Theather and other prog-styles. Not sure wheter the mix of so many styles and also modern styles is a good choice, but nevertheless it's a good concept album, with a good story and good moods. I can't wait to hear their next album, hope they will make another one. They did a good debut at least :-)

3 stars 3.5 realy

Aeolus meaning God of the winds is a pretty unkown band to larger public that for sure, only one review , second with mine, but is high rated and with good reason. Comeing from Holland they release only one album in 2003 named Dust on the mirror. Well, I needed more then couple of listnings to get in the mood of the abum, but after I've found the hidded greatness, was a pleasure from start to finish. The music offerd by this band is to me something between neo prog with prog metal leanings on some pieces, but is not a prog metal album overall. Id sounds if I cross neo prog bands like Timelock or Marillion with Dream Theater or in places it sounds very much like Osada Vida to me. The guitar solos and specialy the keybords are fantastic, from typical neo atmosphere to faster and very well performed passages for example Vicious Circle, the title track who is very much progressive metal or Forbidden City are prime examples of how good this band manage to get from more rougher moments to a more accesible neo prog. The voice aswell is very ok, besides the parts where sounds very funky and robotic. The choruses, the hammond parts are well written and give ovewrall a pleasent atmosphere.. So, to me was good discovery few month ago, is not something special but worth investigated for sure, very unknown band who will be eenjoyble if you like Osada Vida but little less metalic, Timelock or other bands alike. 3 stars, rounded to 3.5 because of the great keybords and guitar passages. They disbaned couple of years after this album and fall into oblivion.
