4 stars A mellow collection of original tunes by the usually hyper-active and creatively daring Adrian Belew. Since his first album in 1982 and after years of success as a solo artist and member of King Crimson, he had more than enough material to put together the 1998 acoustic 'Salad Days'. A few King Crimson favorites including 'Three of a Perfect Pair' and 'Dinosaur' make their way onto the album and receive a fitting tribute. Alot of the songs have been stripped down to acoustic guitar accompanied by string instruments including cello and violin. Belew is a gifted singer/songwriter and proves it by focusing his considerable skills into remaking some of his normally heavily produced songs into some simple but wonderful music. Recommended to anyone who enjoys expert acoustic guitars mixed with smart witty lyrics.
