Triangle biography
A Parisian combo TRIANGLE were founded in mid 1967 originally as a trio by Gérard "Papillon" FOURNIER (bass, voices), Pierre FANEN (guitars), and Jean-Pierre PRÉVOTAT (drums). In 1968 Alain RENAUD replaced Pierre as a guitarist and vocalist, and in 1969 they released the debut single, that could not get any success. Alain in despair has left the combo and François JEANNEAU (keyboards, saxophone) and Paul FARGES (guitar) joined soon. In the following year they published the second single titled "Elégie À Gabrielle" (named after the suicide of Gabrielle Russier, a high school teacher falling in love with one of her students), and via a French label Pathé their debut eponymous album, featuring a smash hit "Peut-Être Demain".

Paul was replaced by Marius "Mimi" LORENZINI (guitars) and TRIANGLE have got to be an "official" quartet active from late 1970 until mid 1973. They launched the second "self-titled" album in 1972. Their "Peut-Être Demain" was featured in 'Les Bidasses en folie' (directed by Claude Zidi), that was appreciated as one of the best French films in 1971, and TRIANGLE could share the title "Best French Group" proposed by rock journalists with another French superstar Ange.

Sadly for TRIANGLE getting great success especially in Bobino or Olympia (w/ Robert Charlebois) in 1972 would have reduced their motivation / potential to create novel music. Gérard's left the project and started his solo career. There was only one founder Jean-Pierre, who invited René DEVAUX (bass) and Denis DUHAZÉ (guitars, voices). The quintet - Jean-Pierre, François, Marius, René, and Denis - released an album "Homonymie" in 1973, partially recorded at Abbey Road Studio. Finally they were disbanded in 1974.

TRIANGLE were "ephemerally" reformed as another combo by Gerard GABBAY (guitars), Robert GABBAY (bass), Jonathan LAMARQUE (drums), Mario GILBERT (keyboards), and the last offspring Denis DUHAZÉ (voices), in the evening of August 20, 2018 for the festival Crescendo de Saint-Palais-sur-Mer.
