Barús biography
Barús is an atmospheric death metal band from Grenoble, France, formed in the wake of their prior group Project Jim's dissolution. They are currently a quartet, consisting of vocalist K (aka Keithan; of Maïeutiste and Caïnan Dawn), guitarist/bassist J (aka James Leonard; also of Maïeutiste), guitarist M (aka Marco) and drummer A (real name unknown).

Barús play a dissonant, post-metal-informed style of death metal, with occasional lurching grooves akin to Meshuggah or Demilich. According to the band, their lyrical themes concern "burdens of the human spirit such as grief, self-doubt and melancholy, with an introspective and sometime fatalistic vision of life and death". The band's eponymous EP, recorded and mixed themselves, was independently released in 2015 before being picked up and distributed by the labels Emanations and Les Acteurs de l'Ombre Productions. Their debut full-length, "Drowned", followed three years later, jointly released independently and through Memento Mori.

Their work will appeal to fans of Gojira, Nero di Marte, Growth, Valborg, Ulcerate and Hacride.
