Départe biography
DÉPARTE are an Australian post-black metal quartet based in Hobart, Tasmania. The band formed as ŘRRANIS in 2011 and lasted a year before changing its approach and name (an explicit tribute to the ROSETTA song from their seminal LP "The Galilean Satellites"). The original lineup consisted of Sam DISHINGTON (guitars/vocals), Mitch GOLDING (guitars), Mitch OSBORNE (guitars), Jarrod SORBIAN (bass) and Michael RANKINE (drums). DÉPARTE released a two-track demo in 2014, on the basis of which alone brought them invitations to open for GORGUTS, PORTAL, NE OBLIVISCARIS and ULCERATE among many others. OSBORNE would leave the band in 2015 and DÉPARTE would sign to Season of Mist a year later, releasing their debut album "Failure, Subside", featuring both of the demo tracks re-recorded as "Vessel" and "Ruin" respectively. The record's lyrics are reflections on loss and isolation from a cryptically Christian angle.

DÉPARTE's blackened atmospheric sludge metal will appeal to fans of ULCERATE, GROWTH, NERO DI MARTE, ALTAR of PLAGUES, THE OCEAN and BARUS.
