Järvet biography
JÄRVET is an art rock band that was formed in Helsinki, Finland in late 2017 by Patrik ANDERSSON (lead vocals and guitars). Patrik had outlined the songs of the debut album with roughly written demos and by this time felt the need for a band with which to actualize the demos. He asked his friends Daniel FORSMAN (lead guitars), Tatu AHOLA (cello) and Vladimir HEISKANEN (keyboards) to start a band together with him.

Daniel and Tatu had been in various earlier band projects with Patrik. He spotted Vladimir through social media doing piano covers of old video game soundtracks (Final Fantasy etc.) and was impressed by his playing. They met up and started out by playing Patrik's demos with acoustic instruments and rehearsing weekly at Patrik's place. In 2018 Meri WALLENIUS (bass) and Jari VIREAHO (drums) joined the band, which relocated the band into Jari's rehearsal cottage just outside Helsinki in the town of Kirkkonummi, as well as their sound into a bigger and more traditional band oriented territory.

Although their sound does overlap into the prog rock realm at times, with mid-song tempo changes and at times boundless time signatures, it focuses more on painting vast musical landscapes with flowing narrative style song writing and dream logic lyrics, that build loosely around memories and how they take shape and evolve throughout life. Each member for the most part wrote their own specific parts for the debut album, bringing along a wide spectrum of influences to the album's palette, ranging from Joni Mitchell, Sufjan Stevens and Nick Drake to Talk Talk, Sigur Rós and Beach House.

Some of the most defining characteristics of their sound are the freely experimenting lead guitars and grand pianos branching out over the solid building blocks of the rest of the musical elements like ivy, as well as the symphonic presence of the cello, used as a defining lead instrument, rather than a background element hidden in the bigger picture.

They recorded their self-titled debut album at SonicPump Studios throughout 2020 and decided then and there to make it a priority not to waste any energy on trying to promote the album, other than uploading it on YouTube and Soundcloud. Instead they wanted to fully focus on the fun and creative parts of making music, purely for the art and self-actualizing, which they felt is an aspect of music making that all too easily and often gets muddled up in the process.
