Eschatos biography
ESCHATOS are a Latvian progressive black metal band from Riga, formed in 2012. The unsigned project began as the trio of vocalist Kristiana Karklina (aka Sienna), guitarist/vocalist Janis Buss (aka Hellhurl Caligula) and drummer Edvards Percevs, all formerly of melodic black metal act Ocularis Infernum.

Former Grondh guitarist Edgars Gultnieks was recruited soon afterwards, and the quartet released their debut LP, "Hierophanies", independently and through Tridroid Records in early 2013. By the time of their 2015 sophomore "The Grand Noir", bassist Tomass Beķeris was added to the lineup, and the record's atmospherics were bolstered by the inclusion of session keyboardist Marko Rass. Rass officially joined ESCHATOS in the wake of "The Grand Noir"'s release, and Buss departed in 2016 to be replaced by Martins Platais (of Pulse of Nebulae and Dehead). The now-sextet released the Dan Swanö-mastered "Mære" EP in 2017, whose theme explores different states of consciousness related to sleep, including the phenomena of sleep paralysis. 2021 saw the band issue the "Glorious Temple of the Horned Moon" single, with Beķeris now replaced by bassist Agnese Siksna.

ESCHATOS' style is informed by atmospheric and depressive black metal along with progressive rock, and is similar to Ludicra, Enslaved, Aenaon, Todtgelichter, Thy Worshiper and Myrkur.
