Silver Summit biography
Founded by multi-instrumentalists Sondra Ow Sun-Odeon and David Shawn Bosler, Silver Summit were an American psychedelic folk duo based in Brooklyn during the "freak folk" movement of the late 2000s. The two old friends reconnected at an Espers concert in autumn of 2006, setting the stage for the formation of the eclectic dark folk project, which drew from Chinese, Turkish and Roma folk music along with nods to shoegaze and doom metal. Sun-Odeon and Bosler (who trained under John Fahey) handled both acoustic and electric guitars as well as percussion, with Sun-Odeon both the voice of the band and juggler of keyboards, mandolin and baglama saz.

Silver Summit's eponymous debut was released on Language of Stone in 2008, featuring contributions from Fern Knight's Margie Wienk and Jesse Sparhawk, Alumbrados' Michael Zanghi, Espers' Greg Weeks, Ex Reverie's Gillian Chadwick and Eartheater's Alexandra Drewchin, as well as a rendition of Bert Jansch's "Wishing Well". In 2009, Silver Summit issued an exclusive song, "Oaks", on the benefit compilation Leaves of Life, and their second and final release, the Blood and Waters EP, appeared digitally on Bandcamp in 2012, with the duo accompanied by bassist Jude Webre, former Oiseaux-Tempête drummer Ben McConnell and the Dust Dive's Laura Ortman on violin.

Silver Summit operate in the same orbit as Spires That in the Sunset Rise, Ex Reverie, Auto da Fe, Nick Castro and, of course, Espers and Fern Knight.
