16-17 biography
A Basel-oriented combo 16-17 were founded in 1983 as an experimental rock trio combined with punk, improvisation, noise, free jazz, or industrial music, by Alex BUESS (saxophones), Markus KNEUBÜHLER (guitars), and Knut REMOND (drums). Whilst gigging all over the world especially Europe, Japan, or US, they launched three albums - "16-17" (1988, via Mach Label), "When All Else Fails ..." (1989, via Vision / Praxis Labels), and "Gyatso" (1994, via Pathological Records). In 1994, 16-17 changed the lineup including Alex, Michael WERTMÜLLER (drums), and Damian BENNETT (bass). Their latest opus "Phantom Limb" recorded in 1995 and mixed in 2018 / 2019 was released finally in 2020 via Trost Records.
