AUA biography
Based in Leipzig, AUA are the German neo-krautrock project of Henrik Eichmann and Fabian Bremer, both of whom play in mathcore alter-ego Actress and post-rock quartet Radare. The duo describe themselves as experimental synth-pop, bearing a distinct resemblance to the paranoiac krautrock of Radiohead and especially Beak>, with the long shadows of John Carpenter and Bremer's childhood revelation Depeche Mode ever-looming. Eichmann and Bremer share synthesizer and vocal duties, with the former exclusively on drums and the latter handling guitar and bass.

Signed to Crazysane Records, AUA have two full-length albums to their name: 2020's I Don't Want It Darker and 2022's The Damaged Organ, both recorded by the pair at remote rented vacation homes temporarily converted into studios. Their debut featured additional bass contributions from Zahn's Chris Breuer, VELCROS' Jörg Schumacher and fellow Radare bandmate Dominik Fink, who also participates in AUA's live configuration. AUA's sophomore was a more hermetic affair, once again including Fink's auxiliary basslines and singer-songwriter Annika Henderson on the track "Islands Song". The album's concept addressed "the idea of alienation through internal and external reflection, merging introspection and social analysis," depicting "a search for identity."
