Nomia biography
Based in Minneapolis, Nomia are an American instrumental post-rock quartet formed in late 2006. Their lineup, consistent since the beginning, features guitarists Colin Kreuziger and Pete Demas, bassist Josh Olson and drummer Spike Ebinger. Nomia cite inspiration from the melodic sensibilities of Mogwai and the technical urgency of Russian Circles, though their sound decidedly leans towards the latter. The band steadily gigged around the Minneapolis area, opening for Queens of the Stone Age and sharing the stage with other post/math groups like CHON, the Autumn Project, Portrait of a Drowned Man and Lights Out Asia.

Nomia made their debut in 2007 with a limited-run demo CD, distributed by Mouthstatic (ltd), and followed it up a year later with a digitally self-released eponymous EP. The four spent the next several years writing and refining their work on stage and in rehearsal (enduring the destruction of their practise space in 2011 by a tornado), ultimately resulting in Nomia's first full-length, 2014's Iron and Rust, produced by Adam Tucker (of grindcore/post-metal group A Scanner Darkly) and again independently released by the band on Bandcamp, CD and vinyl. In its immediate wake, Ebinger suffered a hand injury and the band claimed to be working on new material, but their current status is unknown.
