Phillip Werren biography
Philip Werren is a Canadian avant garde electronic composer. Since 1977 (after studies in Princeton and with Darmstadt European school of avant garde) he has been a professor in acousmatic and electro acoustic researches, particularly sensitive to the physical aspects of sounds. In a relative discretion he released in 1971 an impressive collection of electronic patterns, motifs and drones. Those recordings have been recently re-issued in a double album. Philip Werren's music can be affiliated to the old Berlin School (Conrad Schnitzler, Klaus Schulze, Cluster) and electro acoustic standards (Tod Dockstader). Absolutely cult and a milestone in the early days of progressive electronic music.
