Noodband biography
A very unusal and rather hyperactive Dutch band who consist of two double trio's, Noodband is an incredible listen for those who likes loony and jazzy improvisantional music with strange vocals backed with incredible musicianship. This double trio features dual alto sax, bass and drums and deploys the music in a way that is heavily reminiscent of the NY downtown free-jazz scene. Their only album, "Shiver", was recorded live at the Moers Festival in the early 80's, teamed up with vocalist Greetje Bijma who contributes with some really strange and high pitched vocals Óla Samla Mammas Manna, which makes Noodband's overall sound seem even more absurd than it already is. This band is not exactly easy listening but should neither be taken too seriously, although "Shiver" still stands as a highly interesting release that definitely should not be missed. If you manage to stuble over it, then prepare yourself for a very interesting (though incredibly silly) journey, but mind you that this stuff is an acquired taste at best.
