We Are Knives biography
A trio out of Belfast bringing American-style Math Rock to the U.K., bassist Steve ANDERSON, drummer Bernard KEENAN and guitarist HORNBY formed WE ARE KNIVES in or around 2005 rising out of the disbandment of Belfast acts SOME DAYS BETTER and KILLING SPREE. KNIVES bring a welcome technicality to the often underground sounds of Math, guitarist HORNBY utilizing a unique tapping style that may remind of FRIPP, but the musician stresses: "Actually it's based more on Ian WILLIAMS [DON CABALLERO] than Fripp...".

Indeed the trio does echo Math pioneers DON CAB but also newer artists as SLEEPING PEOPLE and SWEEP THE LEG JOHNNY. Utilizing loops and sampling as a main part of the musical construction, WAK is an exciting band with a growing reputation in Britain and elsewhere as a live act worth seeing.
