Maps biography
In February 2005 in Nashville TN, a fine instrumental foursome came together and began writing and performing high-energy, somewhat experimental music influenced by the Postrock movement but with more zeal for heavy rock and challenging structures. Not a place generally supportive of instrumental rock acts, Nashville was an unlikely place for guitarists Pete KRON and Taylor FRANKS, bassist Jon LEE and drummer Chris VICARI to be making such a strange and new music.

By 2006, the group began supporting bigger Posties as FOXHOLE and UNWED SAILOR and recorded a demo, 'The Occidental EP'. In late 2006 they released their debut 'Oh, That Our Heads Were Waters' and toured the Midwest, South, and East Coast. Their second studio effort, 'The Wick and the Fire', came out in 2008 and emphasized the energy reflected in their live act, showing a marked improvement in direction.

A quartet with much promise, MAPS is one of the bands holding the bottom of the American postrock scene together.
