Old Man Gloom biography
OLD MAN GLOOM were formed by Aaron Turner (ISIS) and Santos Montano (Zozobra).Playing a mixture of post metal,doom and post harcore,the band was originally based in New Mexico but are now based in Massachusetts and have become sort of a supergroup of Boston musicians involved in the post hardcore and post metal scene.

Turner and Montano added two new members,Nate Newton (CONVERGE) and Caleb Scofield (CAVE-IN,ZOZOBRA,THE OCEAN)after they recorded their first album "Meditations in B",which was released in 1999.

In 2001 OLD MAN GLOOM added new member Luke Scarola (HOUSE OF LOW CULTURE) on electronics and released two albums albums simultaneously,"Seminar II: The Holy Rites of Primitivism Regressionism" and "Seminar III: Zozobra".In 2004 the band released their latest album "Christmas".

Referring to themselves as the OMG Institute,OLD MAN GLOOM is more of a recording project than an actual band,and because of scehduling conflicts they rarely play live.Their lyrics and packaging make repeated references to primates - apes, chimpanzees, etc. - and also to science, research, and (de-)evolution They juxtapose and blend together post metal/post hardcore/doom with ambient,electronic and drone elements and are highly recommended.
