Symbyosis biography
SYMBYOSIS is a progressive metal band from Villeurbanne, Rhône-Alpes, France. In May of 1998, Franck Kobolt began composing music for a personal project named CHRYSALID. With four tracks written, he teamed up with another composer, Phil Quist and Corrosive Bob (vocals).

What started out as 4 track demo turned into a full-length album "Crisis" that was completed in January of 2000. The album contains thirteen tracks and was recorded with the participation of some of the bands friends, Oslanon Gerom and Cryopsis Entity (backing vocals), and Karl Bourdin (lead guitar). The track "The Quest of the Dolphin" appeared on the Metallian Magazine March 2000 issue compilation CD.

In July 2000, the band was signed to Listenable Records/Hidden Productions and released the MCD "The Fluid" in September, followed by "Crisis" in November. SYMBYOSIS decided to support their new release with live performances and established a proper line-up which included Tariq Zulficar (drums), Antoine Rognon (bass), Nikos Kevorkian (guitar), Corrosive Bob (lead vocals), and Franck Kobolt (guitar).

In September of 2001 they were dropped by Listenable Records and the band recorded "Life is a Phoenix" demo in January of 2002 looking for a new label. With financial difficulties, the band was able to sell their new album on a subscription basis enabling them the budget to record their second studio album "On the Wings of Phoenix" which was eventually distributed by Listenable Records/Pias/Hidden Productions in December of 2005. It's a double album with twenty four tracks.
