BIRUSHANAH is a progressive metal band from Osaka, Japan consisting of Iso (guitar, vocals), Sougyo (fretless bass, vocals, Japanese drums), Kouhei (drums) and Wakki (metal percussion).

The band was originally formed in 2002 by Sougyo and former drummer John. They self produced and released their first MCD "Touta" on their own label SMD Records.

They released their debut album "Akai Yami" on Missing Link Records/Exotic Corpse Records (Australia), Destructure (Europe) and Level Plane Records (USA) in 2007.

BIRUSHANAH is a very interesting experimental band blending traditional Japanese instrumentation with many forms of metal. They are highly original, heavy, and crushing with epic compositional skills. They were approved by the Prog Metal Team and are very highly recommended.
