Ethereal biography
Portugese outfit ETHEREAL was formed in 1998, a year after founder Hugo Soares (vocals) has started outlining plans for a future band project. Joined by Marco Agostinho (guitars), Carlos Monteiro (guitars), Miguel Ledo (drums), Mário Serrano (keyboards) and Jorge Bentes (bass) this new band was soon busy creating material, and amidst live performances they also found the time to record the demo Shades of Sadness, released in 1999.

The band were initially signed to Portugese label Progress Music, but when that didn't work out Ethereal signed with Recital Records instead. They issued the debut album The Dreams of Yearning in 2003. Two years later the sophomore effort Towers of Islolation followed.

In 2008 Ethereal decided to split up. They hadn't managed to achieve the level of recognition and success they were aiming for, and when a decade had gone bye they felt it was time to call it a day.
