As Tall As Lions biography
US act AS TALL AS LIONS was formed in December 2001 by high school friends Dan Nigro (vocals, guitar), Saen Fitzgerald (guitar, drums), Brian Fortune (guitar) and Cliff Sarcona (drums) as a continuation of a previous project they had been involved in. They were already working on several songs when they formed, and these saw the light on the band's first EP Blood and Aphorisms, which was self-released in July 2002. The EP received local attention and airplay at the local radio stations, and also caught the attention of the website thescout.net

In October 2002 As Tall As Lions finally managed to haul in a permanent bassist to their line-up, in the shape of Brian Caesar, and in early 2003 they were signed by Triple Crown Records, in a joint development deal which also included Island Records.

After an unsucessgul search for a replacement they decided to continue on as a quartet, and soon hit the road in support of their full length debut album Lafcadio.

In July 2004 bassist Caesar decided to quit, citing a desire to lead a normal life. A replacement was soon found in the shape of Julio Tavarez (bass) though, and this line-up has remained stable ever since.

2005 did see vocalist/guitarist Nigro suffering a personal crisis though, but he recovered and work commended throughout the year on their next CD, and in January 2006 it was finished. Their record company didn't want to release it hough, citing a lack of potential radio hits. Undeterred they decided to hit the road anyway, promoting their so far unreleased second effort, this time around joined by Rob Parr, who handled the tangents as a tour member.

In the late summer of 2006 their sophomore production As Tall As Lions was finally issued, and in October they went out on tour again, now to support their newly released album. Various tours and concerts became the order of ...
