Stone Circle biography
Stone Circle was initailly formed in 2004 under the name "Obsidian". At that point the band consisted of Joe Ashwin, James Pearce and Sam Hill. Tom Skelton joined the group in 2005 to complete the line up, and subsequent a name change followed. Stone Circle hails from the South East United Kingdom, playing a dark style of technical progressive metal. The band references a wide range of influences that were essential in the development of their challenging and interesting sound, including Opeth, Pink Floyd, Metallica and Gojira. Taking elements of crunching, heavy death metal, progressive rock soundscapes and acoustic touches, Stone Circle manage to fuse several styles into a challenging style of atmospheric metal. Having developed through the underground UK metal scene, Stone Circle provides another ambitious and interesting listen for all fans of death metal with progressive sensibilities. And while references and comparisons to bands like Katatonia and Opeth remain common, Stone Circle's unique perspective and atmospheric tone only adds to their unique dark allure.

During the European summer of 2008, Stone Circle released their debut self-released EP entitled "Parchment", followed early in 2010 by their debut full length release "Myth".
