FORM OF AN ICE WAVE is a new post-rock band hailing from Austin, Texas (USA). Like that of their fellow colleagues of the Austin scene EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY, the post-rock of FORM OF AN ICE WAVE is guitar based and more uplifting than melancholic. However their own stylistic identity can be felt in the lead guitar excursions, the ornamental keyboard touches and the songwriting based more on rhythm patterns instead of prolonged guitar progressions. Once playful jazzy interplay and thematic development occurs, a certain connection to TORTOISE can be felt. Taking what's best in various aspects of post rock, FORM OF AN ICE WAVE have come up with a fresh and promising sound.

The band was formed in 2007 as an experimental project for developing music for film, and has later evolved by recruiting more members into a true band. Alongside founders Tony Foster (guitar, piano) and Rene Moncivais (drums, guitar), the band now also consists of Nate Pina (guitar), Eric Jenkins (guitar) and Stuart Lillard (bass, drums). Their selftitled debut was released in 2009.
