InTensity biography
INTENSITY is a progressive metal band from Thessaloniki, Greece, formed in late 2007 by guitarists and songwriters Ilias IOVIS and Kostas PAPAGEORGIOU. In the course of time and after some line-up changes, bass player Kostis HASOPOULOS and drummer Dimos THOMAIDES joined the band, creating a stable quartet. Similar to other Greek bands, they struggled to find a permanent vocalist and so ended up with the solution of Ilias IOVIS taking over all the vocal duties with Kostas PAPAGEORGIOU on backing vocals. With this line-up the band started recording EP 'Time' in November 2008 and finally released it in July 2010.

The band refers to their style as a mix of modern progressive metal with post and alternative rock and they quote bands such as PAIN OF SALVATION, TOOL, EVERGREY, OPETH, PORCUPINE TREE, FATES WARNING, SYMPHONY X, DREAM THEATER as their influences, among 70s progressive rock, post/math rock and extreme metal artists. The sound is based on heavy evolving riffs, complex and odd-time signatures, dark and intense atmospheres. The lyrics focus on socio-political themes including society struggles, controversial personalities and war.

In May 2010 Kostis HASOPOULOS left the band, only to rejoin a few months later. In late 2010, Thomi BENI and Nick BAFERAS joined in synths and vocals respectively and the band is preparing to release their first full album in 2011.
