Fragment biography
The Croatian progressive metal band FRAGMENT was formed in the year 2002 in the nation's capital, Zagreb, from the ashes of another Croatian band, R2, by Davor Vlahov (vocals and guitar), Darko Demsic (bass) and Slaven Nikolic (guitar). Three years after forming the band, the band finally could independently release their debut album, The Masquerade, in 2005 and then re-release it through Euroton Records in 2006. By the time the debut was recorded, Fragment was already a full-flagged band, with keyboardist Vedran Hrgetic and drummer Neven Nikolic joining the trio that originally was FRAGMENT.

In 2006, however, founding member Slaven Nikolic had to leave the band, but they decided to carry one despite that. More three years would pass before the Croatian ensemble would be able to release their second and, so far, last album before definitely parting ways in the same year. At The End came out in 2009 and, as the debut, it was independently released. By the time the album was released, Neven Nikolic also had left the band, forcing the remaining members to hire a session musician to perform behind the drum kit.

The band's musical style can be classified simply as tradition progressive metal music with a melodic and power metal twist.
