GX biography
GX is an instrumental quartet from Lima, Peru, whose main goal is to establish a form of progressive metal with abundant leanings towards the traditional standard of symphonic prog: in this way, the influences from Moore-era DREAM THEATER happen to be, logically, the most relevant ones in the shaping of the band?s sound; simultaneously, stylistic connections to GENESIS, ELP and solo WAKEMAN bear a strong appeal among the heavy guitar riffs and powerful rhythmic drives. All in all, the band's tight cohesion allows this dual approach (with the prog-metal thing as the dominant element) to translate into a solid scheme.

The birth of GX itself came from Giovani Viale's desire to explore his musicianship as a keyboardist, after years and years as a drummer in many heavy metal bands in Lima's underground scene through the late 80s and the 90s. Since the new millennium brought this new inspiration to his musical mind, it was a lucky thing that he could find the right partners for this mission. The line-up of Viale, guitarist Goyo Rojas, bassist Kike Fuentes and drummer Julio Campos worked hard on the material that ultimately became the repertoire of the debut EP "Cuarta Coordenada" in 2007. From then onward, the GX activities became a bit irregular, and the band even suffered some line-up changes in the interim, but since late 2010, the band recovered its initial stamina and began to work on new material with an aim toward its first long-play CD. In order to keep the band present in the fonographic business, the aforementioned debut EP was re-released in October 2011.
