Conscience biography
CONSCIENCE is a progressive metal from Paris, France, formed in October 2000 by Dan TORDJMAN (drums and backing vocals). The initial line-up underwent a lot of changes and in January 2001, Cyril STAUDER (bass, backing vocals) joins the band replacing the original bass player. Matthieu GERBIN takes up the guitars and lead vocals in June of the same year, bringing Herve PFEIFFER (guitars and backing vocals) with him, while shortly after Gerald TANTY (keyboards) joins as well. TANTY was playing the keyboards for one of PFEIFFER's previous bands. Late 2001 marks the start of composing and live performing for the band. In the summer of 2002, founder TORDJMAN decides to leave the band and is replaced by Cyril ALLOUCHE in October of the same year.



CONSCIENCE had earned their reputation via spending a lot of time on stage, playing with bands such as NIGHTWISH, EPICA, DEAD SOUL TRIBE and ANATHEMA. During this initial success, the band releases its first EP "Bereavement Before Dawn" in January 2003. Their debut album "Half-Sick Of Shadows" was finally released in 2006 and by that time, Nicolas DUC-DUDON (drums) had replaced ALLOUCHE.

After a long period of time and shows with bands such as ARENA and RIVERSIDE, CONSCIENCE released their second album, "Aftermath of a Summer Snow" in 2010, which is a concept album, consisting of two acts and an epilogue. Their line-up in 2011 has seen two changes compared to that of their first album: Thomas JAEGLE (ex-TIME CURVE SYMMETRY, ex-INNER CHAOS) and Tom LARDAT have replaced PFEIFFER and TANTY on guitars and keyboards respectively.

CONSCIENCE is lyrically inspired by the poems of French author Nicolas MOULARD, and they are often musically compared to PAIN OF SALVATION or QUEENSRYCHE.
